Sofie Pauwels

Sofie Pauwels graduated from the Medical School of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) in 2012 and successfully fulfilled her residency in Emergency Medicine in 2018.
She currently works at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel (UZ Brussel) as an Emergency Physician and as a teaching assistant at the medical school of the VUB, mainly within the (under)graduate programme for medical skills training.
In the Research Group on Emergency and Disaster Medicine (ReGEDiM), Sofie Pauwels has taken the organizational lead, while specialising in teaching in the domain of Disaster Medicine by using (computer) simulation exercises. Since 2017, she acts as a course facilitator in the European Master course in Disaster Medicine (EMDM), under the experienced lead of Ives Hubloue, MD, MSc, PhD.
