Door Lauwaert

Door Lauwaert, CEN, CCRN. Manager of the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel (UZ Brussel) and of the Research Group on Emergency and Disaster Medicine at the Medical School of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (ReGEDiM Brussels). He graduated as nurse at PMB Ghent (Belgium) in 1978 and immediately started his clinical career at the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel (UZ Brussel). From 1991 until 2007 he was the head nurse and in 2007 he became the cluster manager of the Emergency Department. Throughout his career, he was very active in several associations and he is currently the president of the VVVS (Flemish Emergency Care Nurse Association) and EuSEN (European Society for Emergency Nurses).
